Joseph J. Zepka, 79, of Springfield and formerly of Windber, PA., passed away on April 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in Windber, PA., on June 3, 1944, the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Bourch) Zepka. He was educated in the Windber School system. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Joseph worked for Hamilton Standard for 46 years and retired in 2012. He was an avid toy and train collector and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing. He also loved spending time at the Casino but most of all he treasured time spent with his loving family. He is survived by is wife of 57 years of marriage Catherine (Kalyan) Zepka of Springfield, two devoted children Joseph J. Zepka of Springfield and Theresa Zepka-McGann and her husband Matthew of West Springfield, a sister Pauline Maurizio and her husband Ronald of Windber, PA., a brother Richard Zepka and his wife Karen of Windber, PA., and he leaves two cherished grandchildren Amanda C. McGann and Devin M. McGann and he leaves a sister-in-law Nancy J. Kalyan of Enfield, CT. Family and friends will gather ay 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:15a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial and military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 4p.m-6p.m. at the funeral home.
